Fireplace hearth designs are often one of the favored parts when it comes to designing the fireplace. The reason for this is that it creates the physical presentation. Simply put it is the part of the fireplace that you can see, and it primarily centers on the floor level as opposed to the mantle.

Many times the safest bet is just to stick to good quality brick. That does not mean it has to be boring or unattractive. There are some beautiful bricks to be hand, and again they can be utilized in wonderful combinations of colors.
Naturally, if your fireplace is an artificial one it gives you many more choices in materials and designs. Remember though when designing your hearth you want your fireplace to look like what it is, simply a fireplace.
One excellent option for sprucing up your fireplace is the inserts. Once again, there are many to choose from and they all add to the décor of the hearth. Most often, these are made from cast iron and are primarily a decorative piece. They sit on the back of the fireplace hearth.
Once you have decided on the basic hearth design, then you can also consider embellishing it with accessories to tie in the overall design or look. You can use things such as glass doors. If doors are not of your choosing then there are many attractive fire screens available.
The there are accessories that you can place beside your hearth such as log holders and cleaning utensils. These come in various materials such as brass or cast iron. You would choose that which best fits into the theme of your fireplace. Fireplace hearth designs can be as elaborate or as simple as you choose. Of course, the more elaborate you become the greater the cost will be. If you are working on a budget you can still have a spectacular looking hearth, you just may have to be a little more innovative.
