Fireplace design and how to make your best choice has many deciding factors. Almost everyone enjoys the appeal of a fireplace. It is often a comforting thought during the cold winter months that it would be wonderful to come home and snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. It sure does sound inviting, and in fact, it was a thought like this that prompted you to go ahead and have a fireplace put into your home.
Now you are faced with the question of how do you choose one that is good for you. Aside from giving thought to having a fireplace, you most probably did not realize there were the endless possibilities that you see are available to you. The initial fireplace that most people envision is a great big brick fireplace that takes up the whole wall. Yes that is one concept but only one of many choices you can make.
To begin with, you need to decide what décor is the room where the fireplace will be situated. Is it modern, Victorian or antique for example? Knowing this will narrow down the choices you will have to make. Then you will need to decide where in the room is it going to be located, and how much room do you have available.
If you are choosing to have a real wood burning fireplace installed you need to be sure that the chimney is going to be able to be put there and the required space that is needed according to safety code. Some of these things will be applicable to gas burning fireplaces as well but not to the same degree.
Then you must decide as to whether it will be a wall fireplace, or perhaps a corner fireplace. Then you can even choose one of the smaller electrical units that you can move from room to room if you want.
Probably the brick is the most common choice if you are going with a wood burning fireplace. The nice thing about brick is its safety factor and that it fits in with most décor. A fireplace may be initially made of brick, but in such a way, it will fit into an even ultra modern atmosphere.
Now if the room you are putting the fireplace into is a very elegant formal type room you may want to consider marble. Although marble fireplaces are useable, they often are more for show.
These are just a few of the very many materials that can be found and utilized in fireplaces. It will come down to the function, size, style, and materials that you favor the most being the deciding factors in your choice.
Fireplace design and how you make your choice will also depend on your budget. All of the deciding factors vary greatly when it comes to price so naturally you will want to consider this when making your choice.
